This Fri 24th & Sat 25th March will see the Victorian based Race Center Team cross the NSW border for Round 2 of the 2023 Australian Superbike Championship (ASBK) to be held at Sydney Motorsport Park (SMSP).
And what a weekend it promises to be with the unique 2-day twilight event set to be an amazing spectacle. Yep, you heard right, we will be racing under lights.
We will have a sole entry in the Supersport class with Luke Sanders #88 fresh from his first podium last time out.
This will not only be Luke’s first time under lights but it will also be his first time ever at SMSP. Due to work commitments, workshop load and budget limitations, testing or practicing at SMSP was simply not an option of us.
Still we have made the decision to race despite being very much on the back foot because we do intend to do the full season next year and what better way for Luke to learn the track than jump in the deep end.
While we must be realistic about our expectations, particularly with the reduced track time the 2 day format provides, we are still going to have a red hot go and send it best we can!
Accompanying Luke (the Colonel) Sanders will be:
Team Principle & Race Engineer: Darren (Super Daz) Sciberras
Lead Race Technician: Julian (Jools) Redondo
Assistant Mechanic: Colin (Boner) Bone
Assistant Mechanic: Bob (The General) Sanders
Both of Luke’s Yamaha R6s (April & Knackers) have been fitted with tail lights and are ready for the trip up North in the truck (Russ).
Staying back and running the Workshop will be:
Halrey (Sauce) Side
Josh (Bricko0 Schembri
Biplov (Speedy) Maharjan
Joe (TBD) Miles
Wish us all luck!!
